An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Support Executive (PSE) to join a high-performing global legal practice in London on a 10-12 month FTC, providing high-level, proactive support to fee earners across the business.
The delivery of legal services is becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated, driven by evolving team structures, legal project management and the use of innovative technology. This role sits within a central Practice Support Office, designed to ensure fee earners and clients receive an exceptional standard of service and operational support.
This is a visible, value-add role suited to someone who enjoys working at pace, building strong relationships, and acting as a true business partner to senior stakeholders.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering high-value, dedicated support to fee earners across multiple practice areas, with a strong focus on client service, matter management, billing support and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Administration
- Act as a trusted point of contact for fee earners, building strong working relationships and gaining a deep understanding of their work and clients
- Manage complex diaries and inboxes, prioritising effectively and resolving conflicts proactively
- Organise complex travel arrangements and prepare full door-to-door itineraries
- Draft high-quality internal and external communications
- Manage team SharePoint sites and documentation
- Proactively utilise workflow tools to manage and route work efficiently
- Act as a subject matter expert for new technologies and process improvements
Matter Management & Billing
- Full lifecycle matter management, including matter openings, engagement letters, amendments, closures and archiving
- Produce reports for Partners using financial platforms
- Work closely with Finance on billing, bill reviews and bill dispatch
- Support with fee reporting, budgets, health checks and PO management
- Manage counsel invoices, expenses and disbursements
Business Development & Marketing
- Support fee earners with pitches, proposals and client development activity
- Capture and log pitch opportunities
- Maintain and update fee earner CVs and experience records
- Provide technical document support for marketing materials and presentations
- Assist with events, profile raising and content initiatives
Team & Operational Support
- Provide end-to-end support throughout the matter lifecycle
- Prepare complex document bundles and bibles
- Support client events, training sessions and team away days
- Act as a “go-to” person for knowledge and best practice across the team
- Work collaboratively with business services teams and peers
