Due to an internal promotion, they are seeking a talented and motivated Financial Accountant to join their high-performing finance team in a broad, hands-on role offering excellent exposure and long-term progression.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or equivalent), including those who are newly qualified, to develop within a collaborative and supportive environment. The team particularly values candidates from a smaller accountancy practice with well-rounded experience, though applicants from the legal sector are also encouraged to apply.
The Role
You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality accounting service, supporting both core financial processes and wider business initiatives. The position offers strong variety, autonomy and the chance to contribute to process improvements and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly accruals and prepayments
- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Perform bank reconciliations and postings
- Coordinate and review monthly P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT/GST returns
- Lead the preparation of annual group and statutory accounts, liaising with external auditors
- Support FP&A with budgeting and financial analysis
- Deliver ad hoc reporting, analysis, and respond to information requests
- Identify and implement improvements to processes, systems, and reporting
- Contribute to finance projects and change initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant with a strong background in both financial and management accounting
- Experience within the legal sector is advantageous, though not essential
- Exposure to group reporting and consolidation processes would be beneficial
- Working knowledge of IFRS 16 lease accounting standards is desirable
- Familiarity with multi-entity structures and foreign currency environments is preferred
- Proficient in Excel, with at least an intermediate level of capability
- Experience using practice management systems (such as Aderant) is an advantage
- Knowledge of SQL would be a plus, but not a requirement
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Curious, proactive approach with a willingness to take initiative and ownership of tasks
