Our client, a highly respected international law firm renowned for its cross‑border expertise, is seeking a strategic and collaborative HR Manager to join their growing London team on a 12‑month FTC.

This role will work closely with senior stakeholders to support the firm in achieving its strategic objectives by identifying organisational and people priorities, delivering best‑practice HR solutions, and adopting a responsive, client‑focused approach. The successful candidate will quickly establish themselves as a trusted advisor within both the business and the wider People team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic input into the London HR strategy and lead or support initiatives aligned with the wider Firm strategy
  • Lead multiple strategic HR projects, partnering with senior managers to deliver both operational and long‑term priorities
  • Develop and deliver the annual HR plan, driving employee engagement, high performance, and best‑practice HR solutions
  • Assess resourcing needs for client groups and partner with the Recruitment team to deliver effective hiring strategies
  • Offer trusted one‑to‑one coaching and guidance to partners on a full range of HR matters
  • Advise on HR policy, making informed recommendations and decisions
  • Diagnose team and individual development needs, partnering with L&D to implement targeted solutions
  • Oversee performance reviews, salary and bonus processes, and promotions across all levels
  • Proactively manage all ER cases for assigned groups, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal processes and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement improvements
  • Share best practice across the HR Business Partnering community and wider People team, both locally and regionally
  • Provide formal line management and informal coaching, mentoring, and support to junior HR team members, contributing to their ongoing development

About You

The ideal candidate will bring significant HR experience gained in a senior‑level role within a professional services environment. You will be a strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness, capable of translating business goals into clear HR priorities.

A strong client‑service ethos, excellent influencing and presentation skills, and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders are essential. You will also possess a deep understanding of HR legislation, principles, and best practice.
